| On March 10, local singer/songwriter Pat Moore held a concert and CD release for her new CD - Take It To Heart. It was held at the NAC 4th stage to a sold out audience. This is Pat’s second CD and it takes you back to country music of the late fifties and the sixties. Songs like this you can’t hear on commercial country radio anymore and for those who didn’t get to go, and long to hear Classic Country in the styling of Patsy Cline, they missed a truly magical night. Pat also hosts a weekly Radio show called Weekend Warmup on CKCU FM 93.1. The show airs every Friday between 4 and 5 pm. www.patmoore.net, www.ckcufm.com Thom Fountain, March, 2007 |

Thanks to everybody who filled the room at the 4th Stage in October and again in December…you warm my heart! Also in 2008 was the first ever "Ottawa Opry" which I created and staged at the Library and Archives Auditorium. Audience response was tremendous, and as requested, I intend to do it again this year. What’s “Ottawa Opry” you ask? Basically, it’s a take off on the Grand ‘Ole Opry, and was as much theatre as it was music, in that I wanted to treat the audience to the whole ambience, look, and feel. It’s about entertainment – stage props, an MC, and Pat Moore and the Vinyl Frontier as the “house band”, with special guest Luther Wright (with Chris Barkley and Dan Whiteley), Neville Wells, and our good friends Ball and Chain. Thanks to Tracy Arnett for sponsoring the show – net proceeds went to Amnesty International. Stay tuned for a date for the 2009, 2nd Annual Ottawa Opry. Check out the review on our Reviews page.
Thanks also to everyone who came out to the smaller shows, scattered over the calendar year, and to all the DJ’s who play our music – this year in particular Heritage Radio in the Ottawa Valley, CHIP Radio, and Max Cooper at RVM Radio France International. If you travelled this past year, either physically or in cyberspace, you may also have heard us in Australia, Holland, the UK, and Iceland…oh, and the USofA. Special thanks to my colleagues at CKCU who not only air our music, but who have sponsored some of our shows. You’re the best!
I’m currently putting together my calendar for 2009, so check back from time to time for updates to the gigs section. I’ve got some new songs, and who knows, maybe 2009 will see a new recording from us…and a video.
Also, don’t forget to tune in to my show Weekend Warm-Up every Friday at 4pm on CKCU FM 93.1 for the best in local music.

A tremendous thanks to everyone who supported us at our CD release on March 11, at the NAC 4th Stage. It was a sold out show!!! We had a fabulous time, and from the comments many of you put in my guest book, so did you. The Vinyl Frontier has a few things cooking for the coming months…so stay tuned!
With the new look of the website I have taken the opportunity to “file away” the older news messages. Looking back over the past couple of years I’m feeling very lucky to have played music for wonderful audiences in Whitehorse, Victoria BC, Edmonton, Kimberley BC, Cranbrook BC, Kathmandu Nepal, Portage du Fort, Que, and at home in Ontario - Ottawa, Almonte, Carleton Place, Huntsville, and Renfrew.
Hope you like the new look of the website – keep coming back to visit; find out what’s new!
Pat
